Baker, Dean, and Kevin Hassett. "The Human Disaster of Unemployment." New York Times. 13 May 2012: SR.9. SIRS Issues Researcher. Web. 17 Oct 2012.
In this article it informs us that it is bad that there are so many unemployed citizens that their chances are decreasing as they get older because they would much rather hire a person who is younger. Every month of delay is a month in which our employment friends and neighbors drift further away. Also there are chances of people to die when they are unemployed. I can use this to argue because it shows all the negatives of no jobs and there are more risks of dying which will decrease the population if the United States.
Rosenweig, Jeffrey, and Dorsey D. Farr. "Can U.S. Government Grow Sustainable Jobs?." Atlanta Journal-Constitution. 14 Sep 2011: A.12. SIRS Issues Researcher. Web. 15 Oct 2012.
Permanent/sustainable job is desperately needed. There are many things that the government does to try and have permanent jobs but those ideas don’t work out. An example is they tried a stimulus program but they failed due to the lack of jobs. Only time will help cure this issue. The U.S. economy is too scared to take risks, but that is what needs to be done to try and better our economy. The government has the potential to do it but they still haven’t taken the steps needed yet. I can use this for my argument by having it be a view for both sides.
Strauss Einhorn, Cheryl. "Unemployment--Or Welfare." Commentary. Apr 2011: 22-26. SIRS Issues Researcher. Web. 17 Oct 2012.
In this article the author comments on the spiritual, moral, and financial costs of extended unemployment benefits. Our government provides entitlement instead of welfare for unemployed people. I can use this argument to say that the government doesn’t have to do this if there is more jobs for the unemployed.
Weiman, David F. "A World Without the New Deal." Washington Post. 14 Aug 2011: B.2. SIRS Issues Researcher. Web. 17 Oct 2012.
In this article the author comments about the lasting legacy of the New Deal. The New Deal created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. This is something that is important to many people. The republicans are going to privatize Medicare and Medicaid while lowering taxes on the top income bracket to their pre-1930 rate. This would then make the government back to the its 1950s size. That would basically repeal Roosevelt's New Deal. How I would use this to argue is by saying that the republicans are doing things that will repeal the New Deal and that would mean that they won't have anymore Medicare and Medicaid which a lot of people rely on..
